Claims should go out with the fee we charge as opposed to the fee that in the fee schedule
Example: If our fee for an exam is $10 but we reduce it to $5, it should go out with 5 instead of 10. This prevents us from having to print the claim and changing it on the claim then mailing it
When we submit claims to insurance, they get our office fees so they know what UCR looks like in our area and are more opt to "up" what they pay when we negotiate contracts. If we send them lower rates, they won't see the difference between the actual charges vs their fee schedule and will continue to pay less, making patient's out of pockets higher. Submit your actual fees.
Isn't it insurance fraud to cherry-pick who gets a lower rate and who has to pay the full amount...? If you don't feel like the service rendered should be "$10," for everyone, lower your fees.
