More phone numbers and flag preferred contact method
Allow for more phone numbers, with a flag to indicate which is the preferred phone number, or the order of the phone numbers to be used when contacting the patient. Use preferred phone number for Appointment Book, Reports, etc. Add more phone number fields with the ability to label each one (e.g. "Cell," "Emergency," "Caretaker," "Pager," etc.). [963 2702 4229]
All of this extra work simply because a patient doesn't want to be contacted by cell or home or hot-air balloon. We have patients who don't ever want a text message or they will simply implode. We have patients who melt at the sight of an email. We still have patients who need a postcard or their lives are not worth living. Oh, the horror!!! I think we should send 'em drones that slap them silly just for the fun of it but that's just me (Yes, I've had it with all these prima donna bozos). BUT...this is the world we now live in and we NEED all these updates to keep all these patients happy. Thanks, HIPAA!
Need a radio button to flag which phone is the preferred contact method & that is the one that should appear in the schedule etc. This items has 849 votes & has bee requested since 2019???
It's a rule of thumb in our office that the "home phone" box is always used as the preferred phone, whether it's a home phone or cell. Cell goes in "cell" box and secondary number goes in the "other" box. This has worked very well for us. The only number shown on the appointment book is the preferred or "home" phone number.
It would also be nice to have a button to check if they do text messaging or not. Then have it connect to HUB (or lighthouse etc.) that if the button is not checked to not send a text message. There are a lot of older patients that don't text message!
I would also like this option, to change phone number displays to "primary" and "secondary" phone number, and maybe an "emergency" number, and then to have the categories of Home/Work/Mobile to select which type of line it is. Its impossible to keep track of which patients prefer the use their home vs cell numbers, and some get really upset when you call them on the unfavorable telephone line.

I would like if the preferred phone number would show up in bold. Also, I like the idea of being able to identify whose phone number is listed if the patient is a minor.
we use the DL# field to designate the way patients most prefer to be reached, but this suggested feature would be wonderful. It is very difficult to get a hold of patients these days for whatever reason.
I was just going to write in about this when I saw it posted - would be very helpful to also allow the Appointment Book View to reflect other phone numbers. Our Dr. uses this for a call list at night and we have to manually go through and make sure the phone number is the on the list as it does not post the cell phone field..
This enhancement is well overdue.Depending on how the schedule is set up, without expanding the appt, it is difficult to see alt #s if a patient is running late. Or if you can move them up.

Why has this not yet been addressed?

This would be great- would love to see a drop down to select home ph, cell, spouse or parent, etc.

100% AGREE WITH THIS REQUEST FROM ANOTHER USER:

Yes GREAT idea! Have it in RED shade to prompt all staff as patient's BEST# to call
Yes! We need to be able to have a preferred phone number area!
Being able to label phone numbers would be very helpful
