I am trying to figure out how to comply with the Idaho Patient Act that becomes law in 2021. This bill requires major changes for us. I had some questions about Dentrix to see if there is a way to help us to comply better with this new law.
Is it possible to change the format and wording of the walkout and billing statement?
Specifically to add the patients phone number, name of their insurance company, subscriber number and group numbers?
Or to add special statements mandated by this law?
(The law states that a consolidated summary of services must be sent within 60 days.)
One provision in this law mandates that interest can only begin to be charged 63 days after a final statement is sent out. (It adds 3 days to assume receipt of a final bill.) This is the biggest wrinkle because if a patient has insurance and the interest is tied to the date of service, I cannot think of a way to make this possible. The only way it to get as many patients as possible to pay at the time of service and change billing types for those who have not played.
