adding descriptions of services on medical claims

After speaking with 4 different customer service specialists at Dentrix, they asked for me to fill out this form. Currently as they said, Dentrix is set up for use with dental insurance, not medical insurance and the feature our office needs the most is not available. On line 24 of a medical claim there are pink lines above the white lines that contain the date of service, medical cross code, charge amount and NPI number. Because so much of what we do is removing impacted wisdom teeth and surgical placement of dental implants (neither have a specific medical cross code and we need to use a generic medical cross code 41899 (other procedures performed on the dental alveolar structure) This code is not specific enough for medical insurance companies and they need additional information. As a result we have to print the medical claim and write out by hand above each 41899 code what it is for example below:

Extraction impacted/complete bony tooth #1 D7240 (THIS PART WE HANDWRITE ABOVE THE NEXT LINE)

DOS 10/31/24 CODE:41899 CHARGE AMOUNT: $575.00 PROVIDER NPI: 170002591 (THIS IS GENERATED AUTOMATICALLY ON THE CLAIM)

As you can see on a medical claim that has 8 or 9 charge items, printing a claim and handwriting the descriptions for each is very time consuming and not the most efficient way of getting the practice paid for services rendered, especially when they need to be re-submitted, or a corrected claim needs to be sent. I have specific examples of claims I've handwritten if you'd like to have that sent, it was helpful in the rep over the phone to know what I was referring to once she saw an example.
