We need "first visit" to show up 100% of the time in the family file since the family file is the first thing we pull up when either calling a patient or they calling us. It is nice to know if we are talking to a long time or short time patient. Can make a difference on outcomes. Not all employees remember all patients. Apparently when we enter a patient that has a spouse or parent that has the insurance we have to put that person as a NON PT and when eventually that patient does become a patient it does NOT record the "FIRST APPOINTMENT". It should not matter whether a patient was in non-patient status or made inactive and then made re active if there is a first appointment. The first appointment will always be a first appointment.
