Add a gender option

There needs to be more options other than "male" and "female." we have a lot of patients that don't identify as either and are sensitive to using certain pro-nouns.

This feature is now available in G7.7, which is currently releasing in phases over the next few weeks. Below is a brief overview of the added capabilities.

    Updated Gender Field

    • Ability to select ‘Other’ gender in Dentrix

    • Questionnaires, eClaims, and printed claims have a third gender option

  • Attach files

Can we please get pronouns added? This is a MUST in 2024.

If other is going to be the only other option, we need a field for preferred pronouns. Not everyone (esp clinical) goes into the family file everytime.

To follow on to my last comment, in case anyone has a similar question following the recent update:

The "Other" gender option in Questionnaires isn't an automatic update, but is optional. You have to enter Questionnaire Setup, edit the Questionnaire, then when adding a Patient Info block scroll down to the list of Patient\Spouse Demographics sets with "M\F\O"

Supposedly we just installed this update (on 17.7), however the Patient Demographics blocks in Questionnaires still only have Male and Female. It would be nice for internal use if there was Male\Female\Other\Unknown, to differentiate between someone who has chosen Other, and someone for whom we don't yet have the information.

Our office is frustrated there is no option for non-binary in the Dentrix system. its 2022 for CS!! If they're insurance and id card says non-binary and not Male/Female then our records in our system shouldnt make us choose the incorrect gender either.

This doesn't apply to the medical field. You can't change the male/female anatomy of teeth no matter what your "preference". Sorry, but this downgrade to our dental software isn't necessary...not even for insurance purposes. Is there a way to delete it from our system?

Can we get an update? I know the newer version is supposed to have more options but I am not sure when that is coming out.

Do we have an update on this? It has been a year and I'm trying to find out the status for a lecture I'm giving on the topic soon.

Have there been any updated other than almost 1 year ago for this, We have a few patients that are complaining about this, I can see this becoming something legal in the future if not addressed sooner than later

Need to have gender at birth, then either gender identity or preferred pronouns etc.

Can you give us an update to adding this? This needs to be added yesterday and was brought up almost a year!

Please add this ASAP! This can cause insurance delays!

Hello, this was raised over a year ago at least. Why are we still lacking additional gender options?

Thank you all for the feedback and suggestions. We plan to start development to add an "other" status shortly. For insurance purposes, the option will need to be a selection and not a free form field. However, there are other areas, such as salutation, preferred name, or title that can be used to specify pronouns or more detail.

Agreed! Male/Female "sex" is no longer inclusive and "other" isn't good enough either.

Field needs to be "Gender" and a fill in rather than a drop down.

    THIS NEEDS TO BE EXPEDITED!!
