Sex is anatomic and what is most needed for insurance filing purposes. Gender is subjective and fluid, and if someone enters their preferred gender and it happens to be different from their sex, it could mess with the insurance filing. Diagnosis and treatment planning can be influenced by someone’s sex (not their gender), so it’s better for us to have an accurate answer for sex.
