Dentrix Ideas

Enter Insurance Carrier once, have individual group plans linked under that name.

1.My biggest gripe is that insurances are not managed well. When my data was converted I ended up with about 5,000 individual insurances when in reality we had only about 171 carriers listed. My suggestion would be to have the carrier linked to addrss, payor id and phone number and then have the individual group numbers and plans that the carrier manages. When I was trying to look at practice statistcs of how many patients/claims per carrier it was near impossible. It will decrease the errors with fewer carriers...

The easiest solution for all of us, Dentrix, dentists, staff and so forth... is to stop accepting insurance. Let the patient pay and deal with their insurance companies directly. lol It's just too much...too much...

Thank you Ryan for the response, I would love to utilize batch insurance payments, However when I use this method it is still not selecting ALL Delta's I mark, I can even highlight them with the control key and it still will only select the first one that is highlighted... Am I doing something wrong?

It also makes it much harder when you have to select MANY insurances to post a bulk payment. It would be better to add BC one time, then add employers under that.

When an insurance company changes their mailing address, we currently change each profile individually. It would save so much time to be able to change for example all "Sun Life" addresses at once.

When an insurance company changes their mailing address(Ex: Delta Dental of MA), Dentrix should have the capability to change every Delta Dental of MA with one change. Now you have to go into every individual Delta Dental of MA plan and change them individually.

Add name of group plan to report options in treatment planning ex:=Primary-BlueCross of Al- John Doe Plumbing Secondary- Metlife= Joe's Automotive This would be a time saver and not have to look at family file to see which plans they have. Also if the Secondary needs to reflect PPO fees if the Primary is not PPO.

Some things seem redundant/unnecessarily time consuming here. Minimizing the bulk of insurance company profiles needed would be a big help in being able to manage insurance claims/patient files more efficiently. For example... with Delta Dental we have dozens of profiles only because of slight variations in the group numbers between family plans or county plans (even variances between VA, PA, CA, WI, etc). It seems that things would run more smoothly if we could modify group numbers specifically for families/patients individually instead of needing to over-write previous versions or create a new plan (with ALL of the same information except for the group number, which can even be a digit off.). We unfortunately cannot submit claims and expect them to be paid in a timely manner if the group number is not correct. IE 3002 needs to become 3003 for the Smith's, but stay 3002 for the Johnson's even while both patient's claims are still going to DDVA in Roanoke. If I were to send the Smith's with 3003 it would be denied from the same company/plan/location because of one digit, but there is no way for me to possibly correct this without printing and whiting out information or creating an entirely "new" insurance plan within Dentrix, THUS, ending up with an incredibly ridiculous amount of nearly duplicate insurance company profiles to sort through. Long-winded story short, PLEASE make it possible to edit group numbers attached to plans for individual families/patients instead of needing an insane amount of Delta Dental of Virginia's because of slight variances in a few numbers. Thank you.

There needs to a be a way to change the way Insurance companies are listed. We have hundreds of groups of Delta Dental MA which just changed their mailing address. YIKES! If there was a general address for Delta Dental of MA then it would be a quick fix. You could have the General Delta Dental of MA "shell" then for each group you can use the shell, personalize it, then save it. Off I go. This will take us days to get through!

when changing address in the insurance maintenance and you have over 100 of the same insurance name but with different group numbers we should be able to change all the address' at once instead of going on each insurance individually.

Why aren't follow-ups added to these suggestions? I've been working with Dentrix for almost two years. Like everyone else, I do not understand why the insurance is set up this way. Plus, it makes no sense when an insurance is selected, change the name of the group, and select new, the payment table doesn't attach. Do insurance companies have a list of each of their plans? Example all Delta Dental of MO plans from 1000 to 1999 are the same; having 100/80/50 coverage. 5000 to 5999 have 90/70/40 etc. I know it would get complicated naming the plans because of fluoride once or twice a year and then up to what age. There just has to be a better way!

eagle soft does this. I came from eaglesoft and when we enter in new employers we can pick from a list of ins companys with the info entered in like payor id and address from a list and attach it to the employer. That way we dont have multiple ins companys in computor. it would be nice if we didnt have to re enter address and payor id and etc for delta of wash as an example every time we get a new employer in our practice.
