To be more efficient, our clinical staff have made templates to complete our patients clinical notes. We feel there should be a way to put a current "hold" or "save" in the middle of filling in the template.
Case in point: Our hygienist could start making her notes using the template she has designed, but then the DDS comes in for the check and she has to cancel her template, so all the information she has added is erased, as the DDS needs to see other areas in the chart eg: previous appointment information or x-rays etc, and start all over again when the DDS leaves, or after the patient leaves, which puts her behind for her next patient.
If there was a "hold" or "save" button that she can click to be able to go back to her notes when the DDS is finished their check, it would help a lot. Another option would be to allow the template to be minimized so that the chart can be still accessible. As it is now, having the template up, you cannot click on anything else in the chart.
