We are not able to refund a partial credit on a saved credit card for a patient. This is a FATAL FLAW with the program! Why ask a patient "if we can save their card in case insurance pays more than expected" if we have to turn around and ask the patient for their entire credit card number to make the refund!! Patients question the security of our system and it makes us look incompetent!
Yes, of course we ask for the saved card for the convenience of collecting balances after insurance pays, but we overestimate the patient portion to, hopefully, prevent the patient from having a balance to collect. Then when we DO have a refund to post we can't use their saved card.
Surely, there are other offices that have come across this problem.
