Schedule setup more flexible

Allow office hours, provider hours, and time blocks to be set up with multipe start and end dates for varying schedules throughout the year. Need ability to have different office and provider hours during different times of the year without changing the whole year or having to manually edit the office schedule for each day. Set hours by date range or day in range. Set time blocks to start as of a future date. Allow to close the office for a date range rather than selecting each day individually. Or specific days in a date range. More flexibility in the schedule so they can set up a provider to work every third Wednesday, every other Monday, etc.

I feel this is extremely helpful as event blocks can be deleted in error. I have providers who work 3 day/4day work weeks and events have been deleted which results in a lot of rescheduled unhappy patients.

Yes, I have providers that work every other firday and switch. I have one provider that just works certain days each month. this would be an amazing help!!!

YESSS!! We cannot use a lot of the Practice Advisor report because it is too complicated to close a day here and there for time off, meetings, ect. We just put an event in then it shows up as open time.

I am a HUGE advocate for this option. We have 6 providers and 2 offices.
Our schedule changes often! It would be so nice to change the schedule from
a specific start date or to be able to modify a schedule for a particular
period of time. This is exciting!

Just yesterday I was struggling with this very problem and thinking I should put in a request for this change.

Please allow us to print what each provider is scheduled days and hours in a monthly view or export to an Outlook Calendar so a provider could have a copy of their work schedule.

Basically I would want the function of the online google calendar in scheduling. I can schedule things every X months or X weeks or X days. I can also do Tuesdays and Thursdays. Right now we use the google calendar in our office and have to manually enter every day because we are a group practice on rotating schedules. Basically I have to have a person in charge of manual edit. It is very time consuming.

Our practice is normally closed on Monday but we wanted to open a few Mon a year for various reasons. In order to do so we have to open ALL Mondays, then manually go back and "close practice" on all days except the 2 or 3 days we'd like to be open. PLEASE FIX!

I have a hygienist whose schedule will change in six months. I need the ability to control her schedule without having to manually schedule an event or create a pre-block in order to effect this change.

Yes, this is a great concern. When you have flexible schedules (we open some Wednesdays and Saturdays, but not others, it is very hard to do this. Also, we have different providers working different days that are also flexible. It would sure be a good thing to do.

set defaults by Calendar, not just "day of the week" as it is now! This would also help with some of the management reports that keep track of productivity, unscheduled hours, etc. this is a FUNDAMENTAL and important improvement. Thank you!

We alternate Wednesdays and Fridays as days off each week. I have to manually open/close those days, which is a royal pain!

I notice that if an event is scheduled on a day that is closed for a specific provider, then that provider cannot re-open that day without first deleting the event and then re-entering the event again. This seems very redundent and un-necessary. Please allow a day to be opened or closed regardless of whether or not an event is planned for that day.

It is extremely inefficient to have to click on each individual day to close the office. In addition, we should be able to tell Dentrix that "the last thursday of november the office is closed" for every year (the date changes, unlike christmas) so that we dont have to change thanksgiving to closed every year. Also, "labeling" the day as "president's day" lets us know that kids will be out of school and we should schedule just hygiene on that day, but not closing the day as a true holiday.

I would like to be able to set two saturdays per month to open but it conflicts with the initial schedule set-up and wont allow me to make changes. I have to select all saturdays as open and then close the ones I don't need. It's inconvenient.

I agree that it would be very nice to be able to open a day that is typically closed. We are off on Fridays, but every so often demand is such that we need to work a Friday but can't open just that single day.

Absolutely needed in a pediatric practice with multiple providers. Our previous software had multiple provider set up options, several time blocks and appointment scheduling was fairly straight forward. You could not schedule a hygiene appointment in a resto block. You just did not get that option. We have 4 doctors and run 12 to 14 chairs including hygiene.

All the flexibility mentioned was available in my previous practice management software, which I had started using in 1999. Since I had been using it for 12 years, I had taken for granted that it was a basic feature, and had assumed that the flexibility would be available in Dentrix as well. I was able to setup days and hours for my selected providers within date ranges that I chose. I could chose to have a provider present on alternate Fridays, Saturdays, or any other day that I chose. If a provider was in the schedule for a certain day, but the provider needed the day off, we could just right click his/her column and choose "remove day", and his/her column would be removed for that day. This is a feature that would scheduling much, much easier.
