Individual Patient billing type and individual statement
Allow the practice to assign a different billing type for a member of the family, and to be able to run billing statements and walkout statements by individual patients.
YES, please! It's difficult on our practice to have to carry a balance for a single family member while other family members have outstanding claims. And too confusing to patients to try and decipher what is owed vs what is still outstanding!!!
It would be so helpful if statements and walkouts could be sent to individuals and not just the guarantor, this would be extremely helpful in husband/wife situations especially. It would alleviate a lot of calls and/or explanations of why someone is getting a bill when someone else in household has balance and would help for Hipaa purposes.
I have to totally agree!! It would be much easier to keep tract of outstanding balances per patient and get rid of the time spent on looking for who owes the balance. And it would be nice to have an Aging report for the individuals that owe the balances, not the guarantor.

family account was always a problem to our patients. They are confused when we print out the pt. ledger history and looks up the balance. If the family has children they want to know where the balance is coming from and date of service. Our ledger just give them family balance. Not until we do audit that we can tell what date of service the balance occured. This was always a concern that we have voice to dentrix but I hope more people will voice the same concern.
I agree as well it violates HIPPA, and we have to constantly explain to patients who the guarantor is and then ultimatly split the familys if they dont want their spouse on the statement. It makes for extra work and headaches to deal with in the meantime. Please fix this. Thanks!
This would also be useful in families where the children are covered by Medicaid. If the parent is also a patient and not covered by medicaid, they need to be a different billing type. Now we have to create an additional family file for this...a reduntant and confusing solution! Just let us designate different billing types per patient!
We should be able to have a box to check don't send Statement to this patient, and the computer should post on ledge Statement Sent, for when pt states has never received a statment before. Other dental software have these options, Dentrix should incorporate this also.
I would very much like to see the ability to assign individual family members as separate financial responsibility/guarantors. We have many families that spouses like separate statements or there are adult children still on parents insurance, but responsible for their own bill.
this is an email i recieved from one of our patients , my patient is upset . i need a solution . "my son and i share and address and he is on my insurance policy. However I have never signed anything, nor agreed to be responsible for anything of his that is not covered by insurance. He is and adult and is responsibly for paying his own bills. Please remove Daniel Conrad's charges that were not covered by insurance from my name and bill him directly."
