Dentrix Ideas

Many of our study club members want to remove outdated inactive records as a batch (not 1 by 1). Cyber policies recommend it. WHY can we not remove records older than 7 years and /or inactive patients as a batch?

Cyber insurance policies require us to contact all patients in our data base and PAY for monitoring should a breach occur. I would have to prove I tried to track down every patient in our Dentrix data base! I have hundreds if not thousands of inactive files in my data base dating back to 2000. I want to completely remove all records more than 7 years old.

Make it possible to batch delete Anything your customers want to. Im so surprised that this is an issue. These are my records not yours and somehow you have made me hold onto something that I would have to manage if we were breach. And to be honest with you there would be a lawsuit to you because of this if I ever got breached. I dont think Dentrix wants that. Lets make this work

Earlier comments with the same request have not been addressed by Dentrix. Please fix this issue so offices can decided what clutters their Dentrix data base and puts an office at risk of costs etc.. of this software not allowing batch removal of old unnecessary-inactive retained records.

We are in a military town and have patients leave the practice frequently. We do archive patients not seen for 3 years, but our database is encumbered with digital xrays and photos of these former patients. We don’t want to delete photos and xrays when we first archive them at the 3 year point, but after 7 years we would have normally shredded the paper chart. Every office may not want to delete patients after 7 years, but we have been Dentrix users for many years and have a large number of patients we would like to delete completely from our database. At this point, the only option Dentrix provides is to unarchive these patients and delete their photos and then re-archive them. And if you don’t know the name of the head of household to re-archive them first before the other family members, it is near impossible to do. PLEASE HELP!!!!

As an addendum to the previous comment, I ran a report of archived patients in our practice and it is 2785 pages long with approximately 8 patients per page, so that is 22,820 archived patients in our practice. Granted, we are one of the first 5000 Dentrix users in the nation, but many other practices are going to run into this problem in the future. It would be wise of Dentrix to fix this issue before it is too late for everyone.
