If the patient has an appointment on the schedule, there should always be a clinical note. It would be nice for the system to automatically create the note with the correct date/time when you go to add your notes in case you do them at the end of the day. Then you could just run a report to see which notes haven't been signed so you know which ones have to actually be finished.
