We use the text as a means of giving our patients medical update forms to fill out and review the day before their appointment. Some patients are confused when they've been contacted ahead of time to fill out these forms but instead receive a check-in text. Other times they neglected to fill out the forms before their appointment, and are equally confused when they receive the text after they've already sat in the chair! It's ridiculous that this functionality to customize the text would not exist or have been taken away.
