Great idea? That's it? Wouldn't HS want to adopt that idea & fix the malfunction so doctors don't have t waste their time figuring out how to fix Dentrix & concentrate on patients!!!
So, in deference to the Guest Comment below on 3/31, they did not quite get the work-around correct...I have figured out the work around to this defect in the software: To open up a day that is normally set, by default, to be closed, in App't. Bk. "Setup" menu, choose "Operatory Setup..." option... that opens up the tiny "Operatory Setup" dialog box... select the operatory that you want to open and click on the "Schedule" button... this then opens the "Schedule Calendar for OP-1", for example... now navigate to the closed date that you want to open and DOUBLE CLICK on that date... that now opens up the tiny "Set Time Limits" dialog box with fields for you to now enter the times you want THAT OPERATORY to be open. Then hit "OK" and then click on "Close" and repeat for another operatory if you want more than 1 op to be open on that day. I capitalized DOUBLE CLICK above because you do NOT want to click on the "Reset Hours for Selected Date" option on the upper left corner of that "Schedule Calendar for xxx" dialog box... choosing this option resets the hours for that operatory back to the default settings from the "Practice Schedule..." option in the Setup menu. As you close out of each operatory setup box, you'll see the op's open up: when you have everything the way you want it, just close out of the Operatory Setup box. Double check to confirm that only the 1 date you wanted has been changed and not all the other days of other weeks. Yes, this is a very "clunky" work-around, but this gets the job done until they ever repair that "Open Office" option below...
I would say this is a software malfunction and not an "enhancement request": in Appointment Book, if you choose the "Setup" menu and go to "Practice Schedule...", the "Schedule Calendar for Practice" dialog box opens... if you go to the date that is normally set by default to be closed and select it, the "Office Closed" submenu on the upper left corner gives you the drop-down option of "Open Office". If that option is not designed to PRECISELY do what we are looking to do, i.e., "open the office for the selected date", then what is it for?? Long ago, I recall having this discussion with Tech Support and they agreed that the "Open Office" option does appear to have no function, but apparently nothing has been done to repair this. This should NOT be part of the "popularity contest" of MyVoice as a "new feature" of the software: this is a defect that should have been repaired years ago.
From the appointment book you just have to click on setup, practice schedule, choose the date you want to open on the calendar, on the top left click open office , then double click on the date on the calendar and change the hours as needed and check box on the bottom that says update operatory schedule, then click ok. You can do this to multiple days at a time on the calendar and when you click close on the calendar it will update all the days that you entered.
My office is generally closed on Wednesdays, but we will open on a Wednesday when it's a short week because of a holiday. It would be nice to be able to open the office on those rare occasions.
We need this feature so badly! As of right now, we have to put "hold' appointments on days we are closed for a holiday, etc - and sometimes those get missed and patients get scheduled! Please please add this feature!
This would be great! Our practice is open Tuesday thru Friday and have this set as the default. But, Being a pediatric office there are a couple Mondays a year that we would like to be open to accomodate school schedules as well. Dentrix does not allow us to just open the practice for one Monday when our default is set Tuesday thru Friday! We now have to redo our default to say we are open on Mondays but only between 12am to 12:30am just to be able to have two Mondays a year open! So Confusing :(
I have received several calls on this asking for this feature to be added. Would be useful if only open one Friday of the month or so, so the offices do not have to set their schedule to be open all Friday's and have to close out the ones they are closed individually.

Yes! This would be very helpful. Please consider this feature for the next update. It would be very helpful to be able to open specific date for a holiday week or special event.
Yes, this is the idea I just was just posting and it didn't make sense that we had to open Fridays for the WHOLE year, instead of just being able to click on the Friday we wanted and change it to an open schedule by itself.
This is a much needed fix: allow Dentrix to override the Practice Defaults to open normally closed days... the software currently accommodates the reverse situation, i.e., closing individual days that are normally set open by practice default settings, so why should it be so difficult to simply do the reverse? I mean it's clearly a glitch and it's clearly needed so why not fix it?
Our office is normally closed on Fridays. The way that the Fourth of July falls this year, we are closed Monday and Tuesday and are open on Friday. I can open this day, but from the Month View it still shows closed. This creates an issue with synchronizing with ZOC DOC that chows potential patients what availabilities we have.

This already an option.

NEED TO BE ABLE TO OPEN A DAY THAT IS NORMALLY CLOSED. Wow, I can't believe this isn't an option yet.
This needs to happen, like yesterday. The opening and closing schedule days is very clunky. Not easy at all.
