Why Helpful: You ask your patient to listen to the numbers and anything 4mm or higher means they have a form of gum disease in that area and the higher the number the worse it is. This way after you are through they know if they have periodontal disease or not, even before you tell them. It is also more powerful for them to hear the probing depths through the computer. They feel like it must be true because the computer is calling out the numbers. Softdent does this and this is one of only a few things I like about Softdent over Dentirx.
