    Admin response

In order to have multiple providers for an appointment, we are taking a two-phase approach. The first phase, which is currently in beta, is that users will be able to select different providers for each procedure upon appointment completion. This allows the office to indicate what actually happened during the appointment, thus removing the need to go to the ledger and manually change the provider for each procedure after the appointment is completed. The second phase is to allow the user to set providers for each procedure when an appointment is created. Currently, we are not actively working on this phase, and do not have a timeframe for its release, but we will continue to monitor feedback. In line with this, we are changing the wording of this request to be closer to the second-phase of the feature, in order to allow offices to share feedback.

We need this immediately! We need to be able to make the appointment initially with the correct provider instead of having to wait for the appointment to set complete. This is such a hassle to have to do after the fact, and projects incorrect numbers as well.

we would love this idea today 3/16/23, we have our hygienist doing the prophy and then Doctor comes in to do the exam we would like to be able to just make 1 appt and have the exam go to the doctor and the prophy go to the hygienist. If this can be done ASAP it would save my front girls a lot of time & our reports will be correct

It would be great if you could make a place in the code itself (procedure code setup) whether it is Provider 1 or Provider 2 completing the service so it would automatically choose the corresponding provider showing in the family file.

Need to have phase 2 implemented as soon as possible so that we can make the appointment once with the correct provider then not have to make any changes once the appointment is completed.

Yes please. We need this NOW! Currently we have someone auditing all of the procedures posted in the ledger to check for proper provider, in case the hygienist forgets to change the exam provider to the doctor. Also, we currently have a PPE charge added to each appointment, but credit has to be changed after the appointment is completed, because the credit goes to the company, not a provider. Sixty appointments daily on average. This is a real time consumer. Would be so much more efficient if we could choose the provider for each procedure when creating the appointment.

this one would be great to have so we do not have to manually change for credit

New patients are sometimes listed in more than one operatory if seeing more than one provider. I would like to be able to enter the new patient information in one operatory and then by entering the chart number only in the second operatory, the rest of the information automatically populate the remaining fields.

I have many offices that want the ability to set complete through one appointment but give the exam credit to the doctor and prophy to hygienist

Amplifying Kim Thornton's comment, our associates are paid commission on gross production, including exams made on a prophy visit. It's a hassle for the hygienist to set the appointment complete, switch to the ledger and modify the exam to change the provider. If they forget (and they frequently do), it's a headache to go back and try to remember who did the exam. It's not sufficient to simply have multiple providers on the appointment since it's often not known who will do the exam until the appointment is almost complete. It would be way better to simply allow the provider to be changed for each procedure when the appointment is set to complete.

It would be nice if we had the capability of adding different providers to do different procedures in one appointment. For example, If it is a hygiene appointment, you could allow the exam to go to the DDS provider, the prophy to the hyg provider, ect. This would help best reflect accurate productivity reports and will help keep reports seperate if there are many dentists in one practice. Also it would help when you post-set-complete the appointment as the accurate providers would be attached to the appointment.

I have suggested this many moons ago! All exams go to the Dr's production ...not the Hygienist production. We need a way to "split" the providers within the appointment. you have multiple Doc's it would almost have to be within that appointment. You can change it on the ledger now after it is set complete...again how many of those are missed. All reports related to production and coleections that we run are giving false numbers! THIS IS A MUST HAVE!

Our associate doctors are not paid for prophy's and in a busy office it is problematic for the front desk staff to always remember to change provider in the ledger. I have spoken to other offices inour area that echo the same desire.

This is a problem even when an office has only one dentist and one hygienist. Once the appt is complete, someone has to go into the ledger and change the provider on either the exam or the prophy. If it's not done, production numbers for both are inaccurate!

This would also help the problem I have with multiple doctors in the practice and knowing which is the patients primary provider. From the appointment book, the only way to know which Dr. should do the exam is to click on the Family File. I would like to see the hover window add the Primary Prov. to the display options.

We have 2 doctors in our office and there is no way for them to see which patients they need to see unless we go into each appt and type it in the appt reason. This is very time consuming. So yes I would like to have the primary provider on the appt without going to patient file.

DItto on some of these requests: Multiple provider practice: would like to visually to be able to see which patients in the hygiene appts are "assigned" to which DR. Maybe 5 units assigned to the hygienist and the other 1 unit for the DR (for a typical 6 unit appointment).

This disconnect is especially frustrating when the patient is signed up for the electronic reminders. They get two emails and two texts which confuses some patients.

We just had a similar issue in our practice and we resolved it by using the staff window in the appointment box. We have four hygienests and two doctors that check hygiene. We moved the "staff" box in our appointment up to the #3 slot for appointment view just under patient name and procedure. This way if appointment is 3 or more units (in 10 minute increments) you can have a visual for which doctor is to check that hygiene patient. Also we made 2 new status colors for each doctor so they can see by color when their patient is ready to be checked in hygiene. Good luck!

I would like to see the appointment view box ask which provider for which procedure so that the om doesn't have to go back and change the providers in the ledger before submitting an insurance claim. You have to select either the hug or the dr for all cc appts. Please add something ton specify the provider/hug to all appt procedures. Hint: we set up the hyg1 with the same color only lighter as prov1 so it matches and the entire office knows which dr should be checking the pt. Hope this helps.
