Idaho passed an act to overhaul medical billing practices.

IPACT was signed into law in March and takes effect on January 1st, 2021. It mandates that 2 types of statements will be sent and what statements will say and look like. Claims must be submitted within 45 days. A consolidated summery must be sent within 60 days unless a final bill is presented at the time of service. Interest can only be charged 63 days (60 plus 3 days to assume the bill was received) after the patient receives a final bill. Patients information must be confirmed at every appointment. The office must have documented evidence that they complied with each step. https://legislature.idaho.gov/wp-content/uploads/sessioninfo/2020/legislation/H0515.pdf
