    Admin response

This feature is now available in G7.5. The update is available in the Dentrix update manager. To open the update manager, click Help in any module | About Dentrix | Check for Updates.

Thank you for all of the feedback!

To enable this feature on walkout statements, please go to the Office Manager | Maintenance | Practice Setup | Preferences | Print Options and check the option "Uses ADA Codes in Descriptions."

    FOUND A VERY EASY SOLUTION!!!!

    1. TAKE A PIC WITH YOUR PHONE OF THE SINGLE PATIENT LEDGER WHICH SHOWS THE CODES (JUST WONT PRINT).

    2. EMAIL THIS PHOTO TO YOUR OFFICE AND PRINT

YOU'RE GOOD TO GO WITH ALL THE CODES AND INFO YOU NEED!

@Stefani West - Yes, we have added this functionality in G7.4.5! G7.4.5 is currently in beta testing and will be releasing early next year. The option to add ADA codes to descriptions was extended to have this capability, so if you already have this option checked the ledger printouts will automatically start adding the codes.

There is a workaround that I found for this but it's a bit cumbersome. You can print an individual billing statement. First make sure you have your ADA codes enabled in your practice set up. From the Office Manager go to Reports then Billing. Change the Balance Forward date to the start date of the services you want to include, then change the Statement Date to the last date you want to include. Uncheck all the boxes under options and change the minimum balance to bill to $00.00. Select your Guarantor (From & to will be the same) and then send to batch. I know this sounds like a lot but it allows me to print bills that give the patients what they need for there HSA/FSA.

@Gina Berg - checking this option only enables the ADA codes to print on the walkout statement. Dentrix will be adding this ability to ledger print outs in a future version.

The pathway, Office Manager | Maintenance | PRACTICE SET-UP | Preferences | Print Options and check the option "Uses ADA Codes in Descriptions DOES NOT ADD THE ADA CODES TO ANY PRINTING OPTIONS. I have worked on this for far too long and cannot get any printing options out there to print the ADA codes....Why!!!!!???????

The above instructions only work day of service and with the walk out... Many patients need a yearly ledger showing codes for tax purposes, HSA/FSA submission and some insurances also need this information for audits and service verification

Is this a local or global fix in the software? Also, the pathway is Office Manager | Maintenance | PRACTICE SET-UP | Preferences | Print Options and check the option "Uses ADA Codes in Descriptions.

I already have that box "checked" but the ADA codes still do not show up or print when printing patient's ledger. I tried printing ledger through the patient ledger and also through office manager and still the ADA codes are not listed. The only time they are listed are in a statement or walkout.

This idiosyncrasy in the ledger is hopefully being addressed as many patients need a full family ledger report at the end of the calendar for Flex/HSA purposes.  Hand writing the procedural codes on the family ledger is time consuming and, quite frankly, should not have to be done if the software on Dentrix was written properly.  Walk out statements show the codes but also show forwarding or back balances which Flex/HSA accounts will not accept.  Please fix for 2020.

Yes I to have a patient that is requesting the ADA codes as well as the fees for her insurance company and it seems I am unable to do that at this time. It is a very simple request and feel strongly it should be addressed.

If I had any votes left I would vote for this. I have patients all the time that need a receipt with the ada codes on it for reimbursement purposes.

You can already do this with the Walkout Statement, in the Office Manager go to Maintenance | Practice Setup | Preferences | Print Options - mark the box in Print Display Options to Use ADA Codes in Descriptions. This will include the ADA code in the Description on the Walkout Statement.

for Steve R., We do print a walk-out at the time, the problem is, patients oftne need it again, so we print from ledger, there is where we need it to print the ADA codes. I have my walkout printing the codes, the problem is after they leave, weeks or months later.

The patient ledger should show date of service, tooth, ada code, brief desc, pt name, charges, payments and balance in the body of the report. Also like the option for a start and stop date for date of service to list.

Have you tried setting up and using a dummy insurance company? Just use a period for the name field and leave everything else blank. Attach accordingly long enough to just create and print the claim. Then unattach and delete claim from the ledger. I have had to do this work around a couple of times in special situations. Not the most ideal or perfect way, but it beats having to fill out everything by hand. In other situations I would give the patient the attending doctors statement with the doctors signature to use for reimbursement.

I have been searching within Dentrix looking for this option and have been unable to find. Then I noticed the enhancement request button. How awesome. I was able to search to see if my request had been submitted and here it is. In our periodontal practice when a periodontal maintenance patient changes insurance companies we are most times required to submit a periodontal history with procedures codes to their new company or the claim will not be considered. I am handwriting the codes in the margin and they do not scan well. It just seems if the ADA code is presently displayed on the ledger that we should have the ability to print the ledger as it appears.
