There should be a separated balance at the bottom of receipt/ statement for balances. Lots of patients are annoyed about a balance that they thought they already paid. Payments can take months and the patients want receipts that show no balance to reflect their records appropriately. I highly recommend referencing Cleardents ledger for idea improvements.
