Dentrix Ideas

Can not create new appointment like before after Dentrix got upgrade.

Dear development team,

Our Dentrix system received a new update today, and we've noticed a change in how new appointments are created. Previously, we could create appointments without automatically generating a new patient chart number. However, with this update, every new appointment now creates a new patient chart number.

This change is concerning because if a patient does not show up for their appointment, we will accumulate a large number of unused patient chart numbers, which can lead to inefficiencies in our records.

Could you please provide guidance or a solution to this issue?

Sincerely,

Thomas

I could not agree more!! This update is horrible. It clear people sitting in an office thinking up these ideas have NEVER worked in a dental office or they have no idea what they're doing. Another issue I've noticed is in the Family file the last name is always listed first, but when completing the new pt. intake info. as is now required (stupidly) we're supposed to list first name first....don't even ask how many times I've had to change this....Anyway, please do away w/ this one. It's not helpful in any way, shape or form. In fact, dare I say it again...it's stupid.

Can't agree more! Perhaps the people who work at Dentrix should be required to work at a dental practice. They wouldn't make the absurd changes they do and then maybe they will work a little harder on all of the other suggestions the practices that line their pockets make!

I agree with all of them, the new way is not practical. Assigning chart numbers on new patient is not good!!! Bring back the old way, we don't care what you think, we are the clients that use your system, and you need to do what we think is our best option.

We used the NP- as a way to easily show if the patient has not completed their paperwork, once the patient's paperwork was entered the NP would disappear, now it stays!

The phone number doesn't show up on the patient screen. So, the service we have to text patients about their appointment will not be able to do that. WE pay for that service. This was very poorly thought out. PLEASE change it back.

I agree with all that is said. This was poorly thought out.

Since this is a new thread on this topic, I will post my intense dissatisfaction with this awful update as well, and add a few extras.

    1) When I fill out addresses online MOST of the time, as I type in an address it starts giving autofill options for the entire address. Can we not get something like this?

    2) Can the drop menu for : "New Patient, Patient etc" be ACTIVATED so we don't have to go back IMMEDIATELY into the family file to change it? Or (EVEN BETTER) Let us select what the automated choice is?

    3) Can we stop having to scroll to see the tiny last bit of the input options?

    4) Can we not have the "referred by" option be selected permanently to a choice? (Our "referred by patient" amount is literally zero.)

    5) its NOT a huge amount of data, can the Dev team not organize it so it isnt across 2 tabs?

    6) Please fix the Postal Code Entry

    7) while we are at it, raise the number on 'there are over 500 referring dentists' pop up to like 2500? OR. Get this. STOP the pop up window? Guess what? we know we have that many. We see that pop up literally 1000 times per day. Just get rid of it (at a minimum)

    8) Bring the 'add to family' button back from the patient search screen, instead of having to create a new patient, THEN add to family.

    9) If you wont fix the Multiple Tabs for input issue, at LEAST put all the phone number on the same tab? (Or go full nuts and put the first and last names on different tabs! Sounds inefficient doesn't it?)

There's probably more, but I don't have infinite time, since the 100 new patients I have to add today take longer at every step. Thanks for the great update!

I will leave Dentrix if this is not rectified bc EVEY SINGLE PATIENT we see is a child in a pediatric practice. I can NOT created a family, archive it and do all of that for every single new patient call. I have ONLY patients that are children.

This was a very poorly thought out change. It adds no value and makes our job more difficult. Based on our 40 new patients a day average. This change will add an additional 15 minutes of data entry time per patient. This equates to 600 minutes of wasted time per day, and then the new patients miss their appointment. This change must be rescinded.

I do not agree with the update either there is no place to put ss# and it does not flag you that the patient may be in dentrix , until you have already entered them into the system. It is too many steps to take and we DO NOT have time for all the steps. When you put the zip in there again it is wonky can't do zip have to do city and hope you find it in the list. Why fix something that Was NOT BROKEN!

Do not like update either, how is a date of birth required but a phone number is not?! Do not like automatic NP charts being created.

I agree! I just spoke with Dentix and they said no going back to how it was. This does not work for our office.

Agreed!!!!!! Also, the NP does no longer go away like it used to once the family file was created. Now we either have to run back and tell the team the patient is ready or create another color in the appointment book indicating "ready to be seated."

Agree! The previous new patient was so much better. Now, when I change from New Patient to Patient, the appt slot still shows NP- name. Even that is wonky because sometimes it does remove the NP. Dentrix please give us the option to change it back, please!?

I saw someone was requesting this very "update" but I agree, this is absolutely HORRIBLE! I honestly don't think it will be reverted back to the old ways seeing how many votes the other request was getting! :( Dentrix has been failing big time with all these new changes; thus far they created more steps than what it used to be!!!

PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD PRECESS OF NEW PATIENTS INTAKE. THIS NEW UPDATE IS MAKING IT SLOWER TO PROCESS AND LOTS OF ISSUES AND PROCESS. WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE IT BACK TO THE OLD WAYS.

Yes!!! this feature is HORRIBLE!! Maybe if we can disable the option to add them in the system? We will accumulate several patients without being seen and will just gives us extra work to delete them out of the system. Please go back how it was, please

I absolutely cannot stand this new update!!! It takes up so much more time more steps and if the patient no shows its even more steps to get them out of the system. I don't know why they try to fix stuff that isn't broken!
