I am an IT person who currently supports 30 Dental offices who use Dentrix. The automatic update of Dentrix is a nightmare for me and any other IT person who supports your products.
An example of a typical update night looks like this.
Your push the update to our servers. This is the only part that seems to work correctly. The update installs as expected.
For some unknown reason the workstation updates rely on the credentials of the user to perform the update. In any modern computing system, it is taboo to give the users admin rights to anything for security reasons. So of course all of the workstations fail to update.
Now I have 30 clients who cannot work, all calling at the same time. I have to log into each of their computers with an administrator account and let them update. If for some reason the update fails, then it is generally 1.5 to 2 hours to get support because your lines are busy with all the other people who are calling in with issues from the update.
Please, give us the ability to switch this off and do these updates ourselves. This allows us to deal with the issues one office at a time, when support is available and gives the clients the ability to come into work and actually work the next day.
