We'd like to charge a 3% fee for credit card transactions. It would be nice if Dentrix had a feature that would add a calculated fee like the one that does a discount for clergy or cash.
This exists, you just have to start from scratch to make it happen.
Office Manager > Maintenance > Practice Set Up > Definitions
Choose Adjustment Type (this will likely be the option when the box opens) - add a "+" to the first field box and "3% Credit Card Fee" in the definition text.
Then - Ledger > File > Tax/Discount Options Setup.
Click New and enter "3% Credit Card Fee" in the Description.
Enter 3% in the Percentage box and "3% Credit Card Fee" Adjustment Type to be used in the Ledger.
After this is all done, you should be able to open the Ledger > Transaction > Enter Tax / Discount and choose "3% Credit Card Fee" - the system will add it automatically to the ledger.
Now, it used to say something else, but testing the steps, the ledger now says "Sales Tax" for the charge and I don't know how to change that - but maybe someone else has experience or has time to talk to someone about figuring that out...
