In the procedure code setup add the ability to attach a code automatically to a lab case. For Example, if a bridge insert code is attached to an appointment then it would automatically select the Lab case box on the appointment and the L would appear on the appointment. We can still manually attach the lab case if needed but this way we would not miss an appointment that needs something from the lab.
