Dentrix Ideas

Locked to Microsoft?? Why not be able to use other open source programs like LibreOffice for documents and spreadsheets?

Using Dentrix requires the use of Microsoft Office for documents and spreadsheets. The Dentrix program seems to look for the actual MS program verses just looking for the default document program that can read .doc files or .xlsx files. Those of use that use open source programs like LibreOffice are out of luck.

Yes please. Lets get rid of all the bloated software. Office has become real bloated.

Dentrix should be open to let users choose what to terms of spreadsheets and things like that and run variables in their coding so companies decide what suits them best

I So Agree!!!   MS Office suite 's from 2003-2019 have been of little benefit to the everyday Dentrix user.  In spite of being a solid product, I have long felt that each successive release has changed the layout, icons and moved commands into different sub headings merely to make it look improved.  The incessant updates and security patches are a deployment nightmare.

The reality is that OPEN SOURCE software far surpasses the needs of an everyday Dentrix user and the time spent on training someone is not lost with the next release of patch.   The best attribute is that OPEN SOURCE software is free,

MS has clearly focused all their efforts into subscription based, could based platforms and all quires of  the stand alone MS Office suite is redirected to Office365.

I fully support OPEN SOURCE software and would like freely choose what I want to use instead of dictated to.
