I have created alternate codes for crowns to show if the tooth is an anterior or premolar vs a molar because some insurance companies downgrade for molars but not for premolars (codes are D2740, D2740.1 and D2740.2) When adding a new procedure code for a tooth, it gives the option for alternating to a different code if you enter in an anterior tooth but it does not give the option for premolars. It gives this option for root canals but not for crowns.
