Sometimes procedures are covered at a lesser or greater percentage by insurance companies. We see this with full mouth x-rays, periapical x-rays, consultations, scaling in the presence of gingival inflammation, etc. If we could have individual procedure codes within a certain category, we could customize the amount paid. We could also, in cases where they are covered, add codes that aren't typically covered such as bone grafts. This would allow for more accurate coinsurance amounts at patient checkout and reduced the need for billing.
