You can "print" it to the batch and then print it to the Dentrix Document Center from the office manager, attach it to a patient in the Document Center and then email it directly to them as a pdf. No need to save it to the computer and waste hard drive space! Its a little tedious but it works.

It would be nice to let the patients decide whether to get their monthly statements by email or to have them printed and mailed. If you could add a selection in the family file that would come up when you enter a patent's email address, that would be a quick and easy way to accomplish this, at least from a user's perspective. You could take this a step further and allow online payments from the emailed statement. That would be fabulous!

It would be very helpful if when sending a referral to another office/specialist through the family file "referred to" section, if the patients info (name, address, phone number, email, and even insurance info) would automatically be attached or filled into the email.

Currently, Dentrix doesn't allow you to send a patient letter and chart in a single email. The only way around this issue is to export both the letter and the chart to the desktop before sending the email. It would be great if this could be done solely on the Dextrix platform.

A long long time ago, in a far distant galaxy, on planet dentrix 6.0 (or something like that) there was the use of the practice assistance that allowed (or had the idea) the ability to email all sorts of helpful management reports (ex: day sheets, adjustments, insurance, practice goals....) from one screen - You could schedule the creations of those reports: daily - Weekly - monthly... It is my understanding that the practice assistance is highly unstable as dentrix no longer supports this feature. I receive constant errors messages trying to generate reports from it. Tried support and they are unfortunately defeated by the problem at hand. However nothing has replaced it - To email a report, currently you have to do it manually (you can't schedule it as in the old practice assistance) - And to manually do it, it's an insane amount of hooplas you have to go through - Generate your day sheet from office manager - go to your batch processor - hit preview - go to print - change printer to document center - open a patient (any patient) file - go trough their office doc center - open the unfiled document........ Duuuuude, I haven't emailed my report yet (and that is just for 1 report.....!!!) - This is 2017 - we should be able to just right click copy and past or drag the report into an email attachment as easy as 1-2-3 PLeeeeease make it friendlier to email reports to key staff management members or providers and don't forget the feature to schedule those reports at the time of our choosing via email. Beside that the software is owesome! Cheers.

I create reports by copying parts of clinical notes to template on quick letters. Then, I save the letter on Documents. My front desk must open Document, view, file, then email letter. Please configure the steps so that reports can be linked to email and Documents in one or two steps. Currently, send reports feels like a timely and arduous task. Also, any way for periodontists to link periodontal charting to quick letters as an attachment on email without so many steps or sending separate email?

Currently to send a patient a treatment plan, receipt, statement or anything of that nature you have to go through so many steps via the document center, which sometimes can be very time consuming. It would be amazing if there was an option to export those things DIRECTLY to email, just like you can with x-rays. I'm sure I'm not the only person that was hoping G6 would come with this feature.

I agree that I'd like to see something easier. In the meantime, here is what you can do. Go to http://www.youtube.com/user/DentrixDoesIt and watch a couple of videos for ideas. The video titled “Emailing any Report” shows how it can be done with a Perio exam to a referring dentist. You can do similar with your statement. Preview it in Office Manager, and choose File | Print... within the preview screen. Print to Dentrix Document Center. Acquire it to the patient file, and choose File | Send Document(s) as demonstrated in the video. If you are trying to email a Billing Statement, see "Copy Billing Statements to Document Center" to see how these can automatically be acquired to the Document Center. In the Doc Center, select them, and choose File | Send Document to email it. I am not a lawyer, but be sure to check into HIPAA rules about emailing personal information to make sure your email account in compliance (encryption, etc).

I agree! The whole HIPPA, saving to desktop, having an email (I switched the office to Outlook, and am still having problems) which doesn't work with Dentrix is enough to drive an Admin mad. Since I have been at my office which is 7 months and I'm pretty tech savvy, I STILL am yet to get this under control with just my email working. It' pretty frustrating since in this day and age (as someone says down below) all everyone does is email. And in this short span of time I've gotten our Dr to switch over to paperless. While we're doing "okay" with switching over, humans do not like change and it can be an uphill battle to get them used to it. Then when it's all so complicated people tend to revert back to their old habits :( To me, since I am good with technology all the steps and frustration to send an email is a total pain but to the girls that are not tech savvy it seems like a mountain instead of a molehill :) Some help in this area would be fantastic!

    09 Jul 04:33
If this ever gets under review, the tech department needs to also am and look at their hippa compliant encriptions. Currently their software is not complaint and to be able to send these documents it would be great to no have to save them, export to 3rd party hippa compliant data sharing softward, enter in all the patient information to that softward and than send off. If any one is using this type of software its an extra time consuming step, when sometimes you dont have a single minute, but it protects the practice and the patient, and dentrix needs to get on board with this aspect too.

I am atually shocked at the fact that in this tech savvy world that we live in today that Dentrix does not have this request in place already. I am asked often by patients to have docs emailed. In addition to the possibility of being able to email certain documents ........ it would also be nice to enhance what we are emailing. Ex: If you only needed a certain date range. This would be a great change and of course if there wasn't any additional cost out of our pockets. :)

  • Guest commented
    09 Jul 04:33
Here is a great work around if you are having difficulty with emailing from the document center. You can download, for free, Cute PDF writer. open up a statement, report, or any other document you can print. Choose CutePDF as the printer. this allows you to print it to a file - meaning you get to save it as a pdf file to your desktop. From there, attach it to an email easily, regardless if you you are using an online or desktop email client. The concern is, however, that emailing anything is not HIPAA compliant. We really should not be emailing xrays to other doctors, or emailing medical/dental documents to patients. Another option is to send the patient or doctor an email with a link where they can download the document in a secure/encrypted manner. We now use efax to send/receive faxes digitally. it saves paper and ink. it saves copies of faxes forever, with the ability to delete if we choose. One of the best features is the ability to share large files securely. efax stores the file on their server, you send the email out, the receiver downloads the file, you get a confirmation email that they have downloaded the file, the file is deleted from the efax server. pretty click and very inexpensive!!

  • Guest commented
    09 Jul 04:33
This is actually already possible in Dentrix G4, you can send a copy of a billing statment to the Document Center whenever a statement is printed or e-sent, and from there you can email the document (using the "Send Document") command in the Document Center. In addition, using the "Send to Dentrix Document Center" printer you can send a document directly to the Document Center which will allow you to email it to the patient at a later point. However, the email option does require that you have Outlook or a similar email software installed.

Have you tried printing the elements to the Document Center? - When printing, select to print to the "Send to Dentrix Document Center" printer. - Open the Document Center, and select the Referred to Dr. - Choose Acquire | Unfiled Documents - Drag-and-drop the documents to the provider. - Name and classify the document as prompted. (Optional Bonus: While prompted to name and classify the documents, you also have the option to "Modify Attachments..." and also cross-reference the patient to the document. Then the document will also be stored in the patient's file) - After the docs have been acquired, you may select them and choose "Send Document(s)" Doing these steps has the added benefit that it saves an electronic copy in the Document Center, filed under that "referred to" provider, so that you can refer to it again later.

I believe there probably is a third-party app for many things that we need. The point is that we shouldn't have to spend more money on yet another app when this should be a basic Dentrix function in this day and age. Also, how do I capture "history" of what was and was not sent through a third party app and get it into Dentrix. Dentrix is supposed to be "Practice Management".

To continue Steve's thought, now that the statements are automatically going into the Document Center, you can select them within that module and choose "Send Document(s)" to launch your email program with the PDF already attached to a new email, or "Export Document(s)" to designate the filename and location and save the PDF. See this demonstrated in the webinar "Going Paperless" (Article # 49541).

One way to do this is to send a copy to Document Center. First, view the report in a Print Preview. Within the preview, choose File | Print Reports. Here you can select the printer "Print to Dentrix Document Center" Open the patient's Document Center, and Acquire the document from the Unfiled Documents window (drag and drop from Unfiled Docs to the patient, and enter a name and reference date as prompted). Now that an electronic copy is stored in the patient document center, you can use "Send Message" to launch Outlook / Outlook Express / Windows Live Mail, and the document will be attached as a PDF. Or use "Export Document(s)" to save a PDF, and attach that to a web based email.

That worked great because I could save it to the hard drive and then email it or whatever. So if we could get that back, and do the same for all the other things listed, it would be awesome!
