Setting Daily Production Goals

Instead of just being able to set monthly production goals. It would be great to be able to set goals by the day, allowing for half days as well.

We have a daily goal. What we do is in the appt/view box, I select F1 and choose the operatory (s) for the provider. I need. It will calculate the daily production scheduled for that provider in the top rt appt box. If I set F2 (hygiene) it will calculate scheduled production by her column, I can then track what I need to schedule on that day to make my goal.

The current design allows you to enter a goal per provider and per month (Office Manager | Analysis | Practice | Setup | Goals). When on certain reports it is compared on a daily basis, the system divides the monthly goal by the number of days scheduled. Thinking out loud: I worry that if the option were added to create a daily goal per provider, there would be complaints that it would be too time consuming to enter a goal for each provider and for each day.

Not having a daily goal is one of the larger oversights in this module. You should be able to do a daily goal split out for each provider. Then the computer sill total the days each provider is there. Additionally the goals section will not update the total production for the day if an appointment is cancelled, so the total production isn't accurate. It's essetially useless until those changes are made.

I would like to be able to see the goal by provider or column on the schedule for the day. It helps with scheduling to see a certain providers production for the day, not just the total for the office.

It should be right on the schedule. The scheduling coordinator can then see which hygienist or which doctor does not have enough production for that day. We have multiple doctors in our office. Sometimes most of the production is one doctor. The total for the day looks good, but the production isn't balanced between providers. This is not too time consuming. If you know when the schedule is open for a provider, the program can figure the goal for the day.

My understanding is that we have to set the monthly production in the practice analysis. It would be so much easier to set it up on the practice defaults, daily production by provider. Setting it up by provider on a monthly basis requires me to calculate the number of days worked X the daily goal. This leaves room for error, miscalculations, etc. so much easier to set it by the day and then note what days that provider is working on the schedule set up. As it is now, if a provider's number of days changes, I have to remember to go in and change the monthly goal. We get busy, we forget, we have to spend time figuring out where we missed it, reports are off. It is such a hassle.

Would also like to see daily goal in the calendar view and if day is not scheduled to goal make the day Red in the calendar view. Any days schedule at or above goal should show in Green. This way when employees are making calls to fill the schedule they know which days to work on, the Red days.

Ryan- a daily production goal would be easy to set and worthwhile. immediate goals are easier to obtain. I just switched from a different software and this was a most basic function. I would not have made the transition had I known I couldnt set daily goals. We have 3 doctors and all work varying days and by knowing our goals we could schedule a lot more efficiently. Please consider this as an option. Thank you!

Ryan, I suspect you're thinking about the current goal setting process, which is indeed very cumbersome. Having to set each month up for each provider in its own little window, even if you copy them, is a huge waste of time. Have mercy on us, and think about other options that involve far fewer clicks to accomplish a simple task, like (I believe as Dr. Long is suggesting) a single window that opens up where you set each provider's daily production goal all at once. That goal would then be applied to every day that provider works, and the software would tally monthly and yearly goals accordingly, both individually by provider and as an overall practice total. In order to use these goals to "schedule more efficiently," as he suggests, it would be essential to have actual vs. goal showing at the top of each provider's column (for example 2675/3000). This way, if an office is closed for 2 weeks one month, it would be reflected in the daily goal. If you are trying to hit a certain yearly production and you decide to take more vacation than normal, you'll know right away that you need to increase your daily goal or open up more days elsewhere to account for that. At the very least, another far easier option for monthly goal setting would be to have all 12 months and all providers editable in the same window. Options in this scenario should include a "copy across the row" button, and it should tally the monthly goals for an annual total at the end of each provider's row automatically as they are entered.

Another thought: if you're in the middle of a year and you change your daily goal, you only want it to affect the remaining days of the year. You can't really make a retroactive goal change, so as far as monthly and annual totals, it would be best to leave days that have past set at the previous goal. Perhaps, too, it should be up to the office whether they wish to set up a daily goal or monthly, but either way, fewer mouse clicks please! I'm getting carpal tunnel just thinking about it.

Trevor Terry, I am shocked that Dentrix is not on this. There are several of your competitors that already have this feature. and many other features that Dentrix lacks. I think it is time that this monopoly starts to step up their game.

My suggestion is a VERY useful tool for everybody. We need to be able to set up DAILY production goals by provider. It is important to be able to follow up during the day and prior in advance, in order to schedule properly and by production goals

For practices who have multiple providers, working 2-6 days per week, a DAILY goal feature is necessary.
