Dentrix Ideas

search for a procedure by name or code

When searching for a procedure it would be easier to be able to search by name not always procedure code.

Our old software had an option to have a short (cheat) code with CDT code. EX: 1 surface posterior composite for us was.... CO1P, 2 surface posterior, CO2P... Child prophy was PROCH, Adult prophy was PROPHY etc..... This was easier for those that don't know the codes. Along with an ADA icon at the top with all the codes in order (or you could also choose a group if you wanted to look at a specific specialty.)

360 votes waiting for a search button--does someone in DENTRIX think we care about this? Even this thread has a search button! It's ridiculous that after 21 years of asking (and obviously there are many of us who feel it is important), that this is not a PRIORITY for DENTRIX. The designers have made DENTRIX pretty and functional. My office has 1155 codes in my procedure list--yes, many I have memorized. BUT--my staff has not, so I am the only one who can access the information without a search box. Please help us and make it a priority ASAP! THANK YOU!

There needs to be a search box for finding procedure codes! It takes a lot of time to scroll through each category especially when you are unsure of which category the code is under!!

Why can we not look up procedures by number and alpha I would think everything should be cross referenced This is not an original idea it s just common sense of convenience

need a search window anywhere you are able to enter a cdt procedure code. Need to be able to search for a code. For example start typing extraction and several codes that have to do with extraction populate and you can choose which code. We don't have them memorized and sometimes don't even know the category to look them up. Biggest problem is my partner used Eagle Soft and it has it so it is better ( I'm tired of hearing this.)

Just to have the capability to search for a procedure code by entering the description when entering procedures in the ledger. Sometimes, the front office does not know the code by heart but would know the description.

Would be nice to be able to find a procedure code through a search. A search box in the treatment planner and patient chart to find a code.

We are trying to post a multi code for prophy and perio but the scheduled time for the appointment always comes out way longer than what the multicode time units say. We would like a way to post this multi code using the ADA code that is in the procedure code description. We would like it if we could post the two different codes and the system recognizes it as a multi code and posts it as one automatically.

Being able to search procedures by name. For example When adding a tx to appointments, for example cementing a crown, just type " cement" and all procedures that have cement on it show up in pull down list to select from. It is so needed and saves to much time.

I am new to dentrix and last week I was trying to search a procedure by name and I couldn't find any thing for it. I couldn't believe a software like Dentrix does not have a simple solution for this. All other dental softwares that I have worked with have this. It is a Must!!!

If would be so much easier when you open a patients chart or ledger if there was a "search" option when you are trying to look for a procedure code you may not use often or aren't sure where it is under? For instance, "Suture Removal" If there was a "search option" - I could type in "Suture" and it would bring up anything that has the name "suture" in description.

User would like a way to search for a procedure by the Procedure name or by the Description in the patient chart for quicker code look up / searching instead of having to browse through categories and 'more codes'

How is this not already an option? How have you ignored the requests for this over all these years? This is a basic function, come on Dentrix!

We often need to provide scaling and root planing dates to insurance companies but when you have a patient who has been with your practice for 30 years, that is a lot of material to sift through. Would be nice to put D4341 or D4342 in and have the date those procedures were done to appear.

I have asked for a Function for the CDT code list since we initially installed Dentrix in 1997! I have requested it, complained about the lack of it, and always been humored with "with a great idea, I'll put it in an email." Dentrix G6! and still no search function. I may be mistaken, but isn't Search a basic DOS functionality? 23 (now 24 comments and 263 votes AND 19 years of requests should pull SOME weight?!? Thanks!

I would like a search feature on the procedure code list so that we can search by word if we do not know what category or what the code is such as a line to type in "Sealants" and have it pop up.

When you go to add a new procedure code to a patient's treatment plan, it would be very helpful to have a search bar at the top where you can add the description (example: "crown") and all the procedure codes with the word "crown" will populate.

We have been wanting a search button for the CDT codes to be implemented so one doesnt have to click down and search the list, rather put in keywords to pull up options to choose from. This is useful should a procedure be changed chairside, such as an additional surface so the code has to change or if a procedure is being done and the Dr doesn't know the code but would rather search that instant in Dentrix vs reference the CDT paper guidebook. Time saver Dr Bobbitt would love to see implemented in the chart, trmt plan and ledger modules.

This feature is being touted by the ADA as an app that can be downloaded on a smartphone with the purchase of the CDT 2016 version, however, putting on a smartphone is great, it would be better if it was in the software as we use this in our digital ops and it would be great to have as a feature in Dentrix for the Doctor so he doesn't have to stop and go look at the CDT codebook

Make a pop up search bar that you can type in the type of procedure that you are doing and dentrix will give you a list of codes that could go with that certain procedure!!! This would be amazing!

In the Dentrix system it asks us what we want our short cut to be... it would be GREAT if we could look up the code by our shortcut instead of the ADA code. EX: instead of D2392 we would type in 2surf and it would populate the correct code. This is especially helpful to the front office.

there needs to be a place where you type in a Key word and all the codes with that word pop up. it takes a lot of time to search each category for the correct code.
