Dental practice management software should help practices run more efficiently and save valuable time. There are a few important updates that would make Dentrix much more effective for our office.
1. Add support for a tertiary dental insurance plan.
Many of our patients have multiple dental coverages. Having to switch back and forth between dental and medical insurance to manage a third plan is time-consuming and disrupts our workflow. Native support for a tertiary dental insurance plan would greatly improve efficiency and reduce administrative time.
2. Allow exclusions from the annual maximum by procedure category.
Many dental insurance plans exclude diagnostic and preventive services from the annual maximum. Currently, Dentrix does not account for these plan-specific exclusions, so our team has to manually calculate how much of a patient's annual maximum has been used for covered restorative procedures. This manual process is inefficient and increases the risk of errors.
Adding the ability to designate procedure categories that are excluded from the annual maximum based on the patient's insurance plan would save time, improve accuracy, and help practices provide more reliable benefit estimates.
These enhancements would streamline insurance management, reduce manual calculations, and allow dental teams to focus more on patient care rather than administrative work. We hope you will consider implementing these features in a future Dentrix update.
